Professional Biography
| Hsin-Yih Cindy Shyu is the Professor of Educational Technology, School of Education in Tamkang University. She was the first Chairman of the Department of Educational Technology, founded in 1997. From August 2006 to July 2011, she was appointed as the Director of the Center for Learning and Teaching in Tamkang, supervising for the four Divisions of Faculty Teaching Development (FTD), Student Learning Support (SLS), Distance Education (DE), and Educational Evaluation (EE). She is a member of Taiwan Association for Educational Communication and Technology (TAECT) since 1992, and was the General Secretary of Taiwan Association of e-learning from 1997 to 2001. |
| Dr. Shyu received her PhD in Instructional Technology from the University of Connecticut in 1992, with minor majors in Cognition and Instruction, as well as Educational Tests and Measurement. She has been active in academic research and public services in the field of Educational Technology in Taiwan. She has been granted more than 30 research projects from Taiwan’s National Science Council and Ministry of Education since 1993. Her expertise and professional interests include learning sciences, instructional design, technology-enhanced learning, and implementations of on-line courses. Her research subjects are applied for K-12, higher education, lifelong education, disadvantaged population, and corporate training. She has been served on the e-Learning Certification and Assessment Advisory Committee to the Ministry of Education, National Science Council , Industrial Development Bureau, and other government sectors. Since October 2009, she directs a 3-year Project of e-Learning Adoption, Faculty Training, and Cooperation among Universities in Higher Education, which is granted by the Ministry of Education. |
| Dr. Shyu has been granted several academic awards, such as the NSC Research Awards, Educational Organization Academic Award, Tamkang Research Awards, and the Best Paper Awards in several International Conferences. |
